Cricket continues to be an important part of the sporting programme at King’s College, Budo, with the team competing against some of the leading schools in Uganda. In the 2025 Boys’ Schools Cricket Week, Budo faced strong opposition, including St John’s Mukono and Masindi Secondary School. The tournament provided the players with valuable competitive experience and an opportunity to test their skills against established cricketing schools.
The recent competitions have also highlighted the competitive nature of school cricket, with Budo taking part in national-level fixtures alongside schools such as Jinja Secondary School, Busoga College Mwiri, Nyakasura School, Ntare School, Aga Khan High School and others. While the recent Cricket Week campaign did not result in a trophy for Budo, the games have contributed to the continued development of the team and provided a platform for young cricketers to improve their batting, bowling and fielding.
Historically, Budo has won the Schools Cricket Week championship twice, in 1988 and 2001, giving the school an important place in Uganda’s school-cricket history. The team continues to build on this tradition, with the aim of returning to the top of national school cricket and adding more trophies to the Budo sports cabinet.
