GERMAN DEPARTMENT

Head of Department

German at King’s College, Budo

German is one of the languages taught at King’s College, Budo, contributing to the College’s commitment to providing students with a broad and globally oriented education. The German Department is currently headed by Mrs. Namugga Anne Mwesigwa.

The study of German gives students the opportunity to develop skills in speaking, listening, reading and writing, while also introducing them to German-speaking cultures, traditions and ways of life. Through classroom learning and cultural activities, students are encouraged to appreciate the value of learning an international language and to develop communication skills that can support further education and future career opportunities.

Budo has also been actively involved in German-language activities beyond the classroom. In 2024, King’s College, Budo hosted the German Language Festival, which brought together more than 500 students and 52 teachers from schools and universities offering German. The festival featured songs, skits, creative productions and exhibitions, giving learners an opportunity to use German in practical and enjoyable ways.

Through German, students at King’s College, Budo are exposed to a wider world of language, culture, communication and international opportunities, complementing the College’s vision of producing globally enlightened and dignified young people.
