General Paper (GP) is an important subject taught at King’s College, Budo, particularly at Advanced Level. It is designed to broaden students’ knowledge beyond their specialised subjects and develop their ability to understand, analyse and discuss issues affecting society, Uganda, Africa and the wider world. At King’s College, Budo, the General Paper Department is headed by Mr. Otekat Samuel.
Through General Paper, students develop critical thinking, effective communication, research, reasoning and problem-solving skills. The subject exposes learners to a wide range of contemporary issues, including governance, environment, science and technology, culture, economics, education and international affairs. These skills help Budonians become confident in expressing their ideas, evaluating different viewpoints and making informed decisions. General Paper therefore complements other academic subjects while preparing students for university education, leadership and responsible participation in society.
