Grace House and South Africa House Crowned Champions on Sports Day.
The vibrant spirit of sportsmanship, teamwork, and healthy competition came alive at the King's College Budo Annual Sports Day, one of the school's most cherished traditions. The event brought together students, S1 parents, alumni, staff, and distinguished guests for a memorable celebration of athletic excellence and community spirit.
Renowned for fostering strong house rivalry, the annual sports day featured a thrilling programme of track and field events alongside a variety of entertaining novelty competitions. Participants and spectators alike were treated to an exciting blend of activities, including the motor crest race, sack race, bicycle race, egg race, hurdles,triathlon and the ever-challenging pole vault.
The triathlon tested competitors' endurance, speed, and adaptability. Athletes began by swimming 15 metres before quickly dressing, locating their bicycles, and racing to the finish line. The event drew enthusiastic applause from spectators as participants demonstrated remarkable determination, resilience, and competitive spirit.
After a day of outstanding performances, Grace House and South Africa House emerged as the overall champions, earning well-deserved victories through consistent excellence across the various competitions.
The Guest of Honour, Ms. Naluyinda Winfred, Assistant Commissioner at the Ministry of Works and an Old Budonian from Sabaganzi House, commended the students for their commitment to sports and teamwork. In her address, she encouraged learners to continue participating in sporting activities, emphasizing that sports remain a powerful force for promoting unity, discipline, and personal development.
In recognition of the champions' achievements, Ms. Naluyinda presented each winning house with a bull, a symbolic gesture celebrating excellence, perseverance, and the enduring tradition of rewarding outstanding performance at King's College Budo.
The 2026 Annual Sports Day once again reaffirmed King's College Budo's commitment to nurturing well-rounded learners by combining academic excellence with sporting achievement, leadership, and lifelong camaraderie.
